With eight early Christian monuments, the city of Ravenna, Italy appears heavily on the World Heritage List. Heavily built-up during 5th Century conquests, Ravenna's architecture features some of the world's earliest examples of glass mosaics. The narrative of ornate glasswork goes on with strong Baroque roots apparent in the city's modern-day structures. The Ravenna lighting compilation by Urban Ambiance reflects on these effects with ornate glass mounted to a time-honored Italian design. The oriental influence, typical of the memorials of Ravenna, is dominant both architectonically because it mixes elements of Western and Eastern traditions, and on the decorative level which clearly expresses the ideology and religiosity of the Justinian's time.
