Medium base light fixtures are designed to accommodate bulbs with a standard E26 base—the most common bulb socket size in North America. This base type is found in a wide range of bulbs, including A-shape (A19), G-shape (globe), ST-shape (Edison), and T-shape (tubular), making medium base fixtures incredibly versatile.

You’ll find medium base fixtures in nearly every room of the home—ceiling lights, table lamps, wall sconces, pendant lights, and outdoor lanterns all frequently use this base type. Because of their compatibility with LED bulbs, many medium base fixtures support energy-efficient lighting while still allowing for dimmable and color temperature-adjustable options.
